Property* Valentine Bowen on 10 April 1773 purchased from Nicholas Cooke of Providence, Rhode Island, for two hundred and ten pounds "lawful Money", property described as: " the One certain Tract or Lot of Land containing Two Hundred and Eighty Acres be the Same more or less lying and being in a place called New Providence in the County of Berkshire of the Massachusetts Bay and is the Eastermost half of Lot number three with Lots number Twenty, and Twenty one as to be Seen on the plan drawn by Colr. Joab Sstafford now on the record, and is butted, and bounded as follows viz Westerly on the other half of Lot number Three Two Hundred Rods, Southerly on Williamsburgh Line to the South eastermost Corner of the Grant, from thence north easterly along the northeasterly Line of the Grant till it comes to the End of the hyway laid out on the Grant extending along the South side of Colo. Staffords Eastward to the Line of the Grant from thence westward till it comes to the northeast Corner of Simon Smiths Lot or the first mentioned Line-" .4
